The Westminster Rescue Mission is filled with gratitude and warmth as we reflect on the incredible success of the 1st Annual Community Fun Day ‘Catch-a-Turkey’ Event, hosted at Blaze Pizza in Westminster, MD. This unforgettable day brought together the community, event partners, and volunteers for a celebration of giving, joy, and unity.

The Honor of Being Chosen:

We extend our deepest thanks to the exceptional talent, Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson, and his non-profit organization, Forever Dreamers, and the leadership at Blaze Pizza for hand-picking the Westminster Rescue Mission to be a part of this remarkable event. The recognition of our mission to serve the community is truly an honor, and we are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside Forever Dreamers, Hope Without Color, and other community advocates making a positive impact.

Community Support in Action:

In line with our commitment to supporting the community, Westminster Rescue Mission took the opportunity to provide Thanksgiving Day sides to families in need. This included an array of essentials, such as corn, stuffing, cake mix, pies, pastries, mac and cheese, green beans, and other shelf-stable goods. This thoughtful contribution aimed to enhance the holiday experience for those who may face challenges during this time.

Our Thanksgiving Day sides paired seamlessly with the turkeys distributed and the additional sides generously provided by Carroll County Food Sunday. Together, we created complete and nourishing Thanksgiving meals for families in our community, fostering a sense of warmth and togetherness during this special season.

The ‘Catch-a-Turkey’ Event, held on Saturday, November 18th, showcased the collective efforts of numerous sponsors, partners, and providers who came together to make this day possible. The event was formatted as a drive-thru and pedestrian walk-up experience, offering a safe and accessible way for the community to participate.
